This site is the result of being bored and needing a project to work on. I had been messing around with writing web crawlers and scraper bots but didn’t really have any ideas for public domain data that was worth scraping so most of the bots I wrote didn’t do anything useful. Then I saw a story on the local TV news about a new newspaper consisting of nothing but a few pages of mug shots and booking data from the public records along with a few ads and editorials about crime. That gave me the idea to write a scraper bot. I showed the results to a few people and they seemed to find them interesting to look at so I built the front end.
